Angry ECM'd!!!!!!!!!

I've been playing with RTM and pengarom blocker on a non-subbed card. After many struggles with my programmer, I wrote a 3M and blocker to my card.

Last night, when I inserted the card into my IRD, I got "your card is not authorized for this channel" on everything except previews. I decided to let it sit for a few minutes, while I scratched my head and formulated a plan. Within 20 minutes, my TSOP got ECM'd. The dreaded "serious problem with your receiver" and "Location ID 0000000001" messages.

Is Charlie ECM'ing very frequently, or did I just get lucky???

Other than a TSOP lock, is there anything I should have done differently??

I am going to re-write the TSOP this weekend and try the software lock. Does anyone have any words of warning for me??

If you wrote a true 3m to the card that's the reason you got hit.

Penga is the right blocker and is working. Unless this is for that ROM2 you scored. (lucky dog!) I can't confirm the penga blocker for a rom2 works from personal experience.

You need to write tiers to the card instead of a 3m. Use a program like RTM (RomTiermaker) to create a set of authorization tiers to put on the card. Latest version I know of is RTM11.8d should be at

dss.ftp.com

Thanks!!

This was for a ROM3 that I have playing with for about a week.

Is writing tiers to the card similar to an activation script for DaveTV??

Would the 3M be Ok if I software lock the TSOP??

I'm not touching the ROM2 until I understand the ROM3.

I tried writing the penga blocker and tiers to the card. When I insert card into receiver it says "Wrong Access Card Inserted for This Receiver".

What is the best way to write the receiver information to the card???

The easiest way is to open NE read card info, open data editor and on right side fill all info in,write to card and then save image.

Ok. Did that. Now when I insert the card and power up the receiver, all it does is display the "Searching for Satellite" message.

Is this a problem with the card or do I need to get JKeys out again???

"Searching for Satellite" is the message you want. Means everything (card and IRD) like each other and decided to make the marriage work.

If its searching more than a few minutes then its time to start checking the signal meter and make sure their is a signal.
also make sure the "multi switch" is properly set up and working.

"multi switch" is properly set up and working.

Don't you mean the check switch option as he never stated that he has a multiswitch?

I've checked all that. I am using an SW21 for the Dish500 setup. I have checked the signal meters for both the 110 and 119 sats. Both signals are over 100.

On my previous 3m'd attempt, I was getting preview channels. So I am certain that the dish is pointed and the switch is configured correctly. Could the problem be with my TSOP????

bigjohn, have you done the 'check switch' option? If yes, and you're still only getting the 'Searching for Satellite', try a hard reset. If still no go, then erase the SA address specific to your IRD model. Then reconnect the sat feed (no card in slot). It will update to the current FW. You'll be good to go...

Thanks, Chapster!!

Yes the switch checks out OK.

Are the hard reboot instructions the same for all IRDs?? I have a 3800.

I don't understand what you mean by the SA address. Is this located on the TSOP???

When you use jkeys and pull your tsop info, top right hand corner of jkey is a dropdown ,click and you will see all Sa addy's for all models.
Hard reset same for all models.

OK, I'm here at the drop down menu.

But, I see SA0, SA1, SA2, ......, SA34. Which one needs to be erased??

My receiver is a 3900.

Here ya go
FYI
301-010 = SA3 (Flash1)
301-010 = SA15 (Flash2)
2700/2800/3700 = SA5
3800/3900/4700/4900 = SA30
504/508 = SA52 or SA54

ONLY ERASE SA3 for 3100. this should be flash 1
SA15 (flash 2) is the tsop that contains your BOXKEYS

Hope this helps you.

Ok!! Did that. Looks like receiver is back in business, but now I can only see preview channels. All other channels say, "Your smart card does not currently have authorization to view or purchase this program..."

I used RTM119. Chose write tiers only, no PPV string.

Added Penga blocker, then tiers to card. Checked card is at Rev. 381 after writing.

Tried a hard reset but message will not go away.

Dish pro or Not Dish Pro Dish 500
i don't know if this helps you any but if you have a dish 500 dish that has an LNB on it that has "Dish pro" written on it and your using a non dish pro receiver you will not get it to work right. I had this problem and switched the LNB to anormal double LNB and all was well in 5 seconds. I thought would mention it, it migh tno be relavant though.

I had moved this post to another thread by accident,I do apologise

After I enter this sequence I see a diagnostic screen. Is this right?? If I then hit view, I go to the last selected channel but still get the card not authorized message.

I am using a standard Dave TV LNB. I've had this setup working before with an AVR, so it must be my card.
