How vigilant should I be???
Finally with much assistance have my 3900 & ROM 3 up and running.
I am using unmarked ROM3 + Penga blocker. What will happen when Charlie sends an ECM to defeat Penga??? Will my one and only open ROM 3 be closed?? Will it hit the TSOP??? What should I expect, and how vigilant should I be in protecting my card???? |

I know that there isn't an exact answer to my questions, but I was just curious what happened to cards (and receivers) when the horhay blocker was defeated???

No with blocker on they cannot lock cam and shouldn't hit tsop until blocker is compramised, which could be at anytime.
Might want to consider putting locks on. Nothing happened to cam or ird, just recieved a "NAG" when h0rhay was compramised. |

Thanks, Darnat!!!
I don't trust my repair skills enough to do a hard lock. I have another 3900 sitting on the shelf right now because I F**Ked up and broke a leg off the EEPROM. I have been looking at the softlock option, but today I saw a post questioning whether or not that has been compromised. BTW, shouldn't I be able to replace the EEPROM fairly easily?? It's just a surface mount 24LC256 (isn't it????). |

I believe the 3900 used a 24LC16. Very easy to change. With a bit of practice. Cheap too. Less than a buck for the ic. t160hq I wouldn't worry too much about the card. Worse case you will have to set up a EMU system. You don't need a card for that. Last edited by t160hq; 08-09-2003 at 02:31 AM.. |
