...I am looking to get into Dish as a back-up to DTV. Here is what I am trying to accomplish and maintain. I am by no means new to programming and I will be reading my butt off oveer the next few days to get up to speed, but to narrow it down a bit, perhaps a few of you experts <Darnat> can point me in a few directions to get to what i need.

I am looking to set up for 3 recievers, i have cards but would like to have extras. I have friends who have been asking me tp get nto dish so that i can do their cards, so i have to keep that in mind as well. Can anyone give me a list of what I need based on this info? I would truely appreciate it, and YES i know, read, read, read, I am already in process of that.

Looking like you want to get into plastic.....simple
obtain an ISO 7816 compliant 3.68 programmer or one that can be used for dish and Dtv(3.57 mhz)&(3.68mhz)dual mode.
Nagraedit 3.0 software and a how to (all in the files section),
Jtag(PREFERABLY BUFFERED,How to build your own in files too.)

PANIC???.. nay, just like being prepared. I know the HU's days are numbered, just exactly, noone really knows. Hell it could be another year yet, but with all the apparent activities as of late with DAVE, i figured I'd better go ahead and do this. Besides, I've always wanted to get into Dish just for the sake of the know-how. DAVE screwed up big this week, has people making all kinds of speculations, but it appears obvious with the newer hash routines that he made a mistake and had to correct it. At any rate, he succeeded in getting his point across.

Got this little tidbit of info...read on

Today Directv Sent down 2 Hashes Checking 251Eh.0 in the Blackout Bits Area. While it appears to be Hashes to kill hacking attempts it goes way beyond that because no HU Card will pass this hash, even Good Legal Subbed Cards. Let me Explain:

First Hash:

What this hash is doing is setting the way for the second hash. This hash causes Freezing on most cards including Subs. So now all cards have 251Eh.0 Cleared.

It is apparent that every card that was in the DataStream for the first hash will go down on the 2nd hash.

Directv meant for this to happen. Basically this was a way of getting those few remaining subs to call and complain at which time Directv will send them shiny new cards (If they do not already have them). You can bet that Directv will rotate this hash sometime later on to see if it missed any subs that it didn't get on the first pass. This was merely a "test and Destroy" Mission for Directv.

... thanks for the reply, Now I don't wanna clutter up this forum with unrelated topics, but that post was posted before all the info was in. Yes, it appeared to be doing exactly what the post stated, but in fact, DAVE realized he screwed up because the next wave of hash routines had a few ins42 packets in there to try and correct the screw up so the legit cards wouldn't go down. Those two hash routines had everyone talking and speculating, but the ones who monitered the stream saw where DAVE was trying to correct his mistakes. Again, this is not related to these forums so please do as Darnat said and post in the relative forums. As for my DISH education, it is coming along, I hope to be posting with yu fellas on an informed basis very soon. Good luck to you guys and I shall see you on the other side.
