Hello all,
I am totally new to DishNetwork...I am currently so frustrated with tryin to keep DirectTV up that I am now going to give DishNetwork a try. I have some questions though that I hope you guys can answer. 1) How hard is it to keep Dish up and running, does it get hashed all the time? 2) The two recievers that I have (2700 & 3700) look pretty old and outdated, are these going to work for me? How well do they perform with regards to picture quality and what not? 3) Once I make the mods to these receivers such as the TSOP lock and apply the JTAG reader will I be up for more than a few days? With these mods do I still have to constantly program the ROM card with new scripts? 4) Finally how do I know what version of ROM card i have (3,10,11 etc)? Any help you guys can give a complete newbie would be very appreciated! |

Blockers?

Hello, Thank you for your help on this...I was wondering though what are blockers and where are they located in the download area? How do you apply these?- To your Rom Card or the IRD or what? Also any other hints that you can give me to help me get started with this would be so helpful! Thanks again! |

I'm still pretty new at this also, but I'll try to get you started. A blocker is hex file--patch is the term I have seen used for DISH--that is applied to the card prior to adding a 3m or activation (tiers) file. The blocker makes your card appear as if it has been updated to the latest revision, so that Charlie cannot update (and lock) your card. It is very important to verify the ROM revision on your card before and after you apply the blocker file. If your blocker is applied correctly, Nagraedit will show the updated revision #. If the revision doesn't change, the blocker is not applied correctly, and DO NOT place your card in the stream. The particular blocker file that you use depends on your card type. Nagraedit will tell you if you have a ROM2, 3 or 10. Someone can jump in and help me here, but the latest blocker files: ROM 3 Pengarom blocker ROM 10 NBCv3blocker You should be able to find these in the file area. I echo some of the earlier comments about TSOP lock. I think it is more trouble than it is worth. If you have a good JTAG, you can restore your receiver very quickly after an ECM. If the frequency of ECM's increase, my position might change. Good Luck, and be patient! |
