Nagra2 is upon us. Black screens lay ahead. If you are considering buying an FTA receiver for the purpose of seeing Dish Network, your time is now limited to a couple of months or less. There is no receiver that currently has Nagra2 capability.

Bell ExpressVu, one of the two major providers that have been tested by FTA hobbyists, is now 100% secure with Nagra2 as of 7/15/05. Dish Network has at this time switched international channels, porn, and several premium movie channels. Pay-per-view and the rest of the premium channels will be gone very soon. In the next few months, everything on Dish Network will be using the extremely secure Nagra2 encryption.

There has been some optimistic talk from some insiders about a process called "Card Sharing" but all videos showing card sharing have been revealed to be fakes. If there is a light at the end of the tunnel, it is between the lines of the Pirate TV channel now being shown on Dish Network. The announcer claims that "Dish Network will be implementing new types of Electronic Countermeasures..." This suggests that perhaps DN is aware that hackers are working on solutions. But absolutely nothing credible has yet to come forward.

The reason I'm saying this now instead of a few months back is because the cost of purchasing a complete FTA system to be used with Dish Net no longer justifies what you would save over having a subscription. Nagra2 is now right around the corner and Nag-1 channels will soon be dropping off on a daily basis.

If you do buy FTA equipment at this time, it is advised to buy with the intention of viewing True free-to-air satellite TV. This consists of A FREE TO AIR DISH. Several network affiliates, international programming, and a handful of variety programming, news, and music channels.

I've been a respected member at this site for well over a year now under Crow. This site and its members are like family to me. Crow how could you say this"There is no receiver that currently has Nagra2 capability"? Since N2 came out no one that I know(that subs) of had to change the receivers to get N2.Sure the FTA Dealers are advertizing that to sell the FTAs to get rid of them.

What Crow is referring to is that NO receiver is available for N2 for testers PERIOD.. Keep in mind that it is not the receiver that is being changed, but the smart card... Subs are managed on either smart cards or cardless receivers (which I am sure will be more commonplace soon).. Lets not get wrapped around the axle on this thing, we all know how P4 changed the DTV world, N2 is basically the P4 for dish and will make "testing" a thing of the past for free tv.. just deal with it and quit looking for any subtle hints in posts here..

What I do not understand is why you can not take a new 101 card clone it then subscribe one of the cards. copy the ird and box keys of the subed ird to the clones
the new card will get stream locked and same thing should happen as soon as the clone is introduced into the stream. Wouldn't this be the explanation of how this cloning is possible.
There are smart card duplicators out there that will copy a card bit by bit.

People have been trying to do that since they came out with P-4 / P-5 / N2.

No one has been able to get (downlaod) the information off the card yet, but I am sure they will not give up as this would be the first step to reading what is on the card and that would lead to a being able to change the information, (a hack) for the P & N cards.

EVERYONE would be interedted in that, it would be worth a lot of money to actually copy (clone) the cards.

(If they actually existed there would be millions of conterfit cards available - everywhere.)

I just did an internet search for smart card cloning and found various software.
Originally I was looking at cloning GSM SIM cards for the phones and I have found software for that but I was not successful and getting through although others claimed they did. I have about 3 different smart card readers and they are connected to the computer in different ways and are used to program different cards. It is interesting that the ISO that I use to write dish cards works also on the GSM cards but the one I got from American Express Blue card does not work for GSM or satelite. Anyway the problem is I do not know enough about how these cards are set-up. I've even seen various blank smart cards but again who knows which ones N2 uses...
