Need assist. in searching for lawsuit..
Hello guys.
I'm in search of a document I know exists on a racial discrimenation case. I've never looked for court documents online before, but I know it;s public record. Can anyone give some experienced help on how to locate such a document?

US or Canada ?
In the US you need to know at least one court it was litigated in and the name of the suit. There is also a index by topics, harder to use. Go to the index for a court that heard it court and look for it by the name ie: Dish vs. Bud (person who started /filed it is always first name) That will gve you the referance(s) to the courts it has been in and the books to look in. Called 'shepardizing' = all courts that have heard the case or appeals of the case and related cases. I the U.S. the US supreme court is in all law librarys, so is the federal district courts. below federal level you have to be in a state law law library that has the federal books and the state supreme court, court of appeals and the state's county courts......lower courts are not published. West Law on line has it all, and makes it easy, but you need a password to access it. Sorry, mine expired.

It's a racial discrimination case against a company in texas that my current Plant Manger used to work for. I know the case was won by the plaintiff. I just need to find it if possible.
He's doing it again at our plant and I need this documtnt to lay on his desk. Call it a persoanl crusade against him. Anyone ever used Net Detective and can verify it's success?

If you have his name, go to the library.
The company name would be helpful but not necessary. Look in the master name index of the Texas Revised Statutes if it was in a Texas court for his name and was brought in a texas (State = District court) Or the Master name index of the Federal District Court if it was a Federal Title 42 USCA section 1983 discrimination case. All the cases are listed in the name index, it will give you the case Name Case number, and the volume of the referance book it is in. Texas calls its county courts District courts (too) and all the cases in them are in the books. Lower courts than that are not "courts of record" and do not get in the books.

I have used Net Detective...
Don't waste your money... It'll give you some good search engines, but that's it.... I used it to find out info on a person (theif) that I bought from on Fleabay, and all i found out was that he gives seminars for Fleabay..... Not much else, just some peoples history..... I guess for the what, $29.95, it really wasn't a bad deal..... Good luck to you Budreaux.. Cheers |

What BD needs can only be found in a law library in a law book or westlaw on line if you are a lawyer and have a account and password.
