Question OBD-2 Ford F-150

Just bought an OBD-2 code reader. expensive but well worth it!

Anyways, I pulled 1 code and it is cylinder 3 misfire. Changed the plugs and wires and seems a little better but still runs rough.
The only other thing to replace would be the 2 coil packs.

my question is this... each coil control 4 cylinders, if the coil is bad, would all cylinders run like shit or is it possible to only affect 1 cylinder?

It could affect only one cylinder I would just replace the one coil pack for now.

thanks for the help.... they did not have the coils in stock, so I replaced the 1 plug and it works like a charm!

Few... coil packs weren't cheap either!

Thanks VRM, possible.
Love my ford, but please tell those jackass engeneers to make life a little easier for us when we change our damn plugs.
My arm was bent like a pretzel and was so far in there I could swear I saw myself waving out of the muffler.

Sometimes it easist to go through the fender wall. If you need any info I got AllData, but those ciol packs last a long time. My dads F150 has a little over 200,000 and they never been changed.

putting one plug in is like replacing one half a brake shoe...why not just put a whole new set of them in it?

Pull the plug wire off and see if it makes a difference

Same as we did 40 years ago

miss get worse, wrong cylinder,

miss stays the same it is the coil, the wire or the plug

A lot easier than changing the coil, when you find the cylinder that misses check the wire first, then the plug, then the col, always check the easiest to get to part first.

If the coil was bad it would affect all 4 cylinders trust me i know! I am a mechanic. There are so many thins that can cause a misfire. Do you have any exhause leaks? You can be loosing back preasure. After you changed the plugs & wires did you still get a misfire on that cylinder?

i have an 87' Never missed an oil change in its life.....

Every 5000k! and plugs changed every 30,000

Better to spend a few extra bucks now, then cause problems in the future
