go to Walmart to the automotive section they sale one for around 60 dollars that is a tool to read codes and such. It will also turn off that pesty light. Afterwards, you still have the tool just in case. the instruction are simple and you will have no problems. I would think that warrantee would still be in place. If you wanted to come to Kansas, I would do it for you! He he. Good Luck

Pontiac Check Engine Light
Go to Auto Zone they will read it for free and erase it if it's a bull shit message which it probably is or you can find out what the problem is.

Nope, my sister left the cap loose on my Mountaineer and as soon as I got on the freeway, it lit up and stayed lit. I would just stop at different shops, usually near lunch time and ask how much? And lie about this place said this amount for cash, thanks anyway, till one bit for $40.00, it only takes a minute.

sure will but it takes atleast 5 min not 30 seconds, and you can also read your codes and reset your CE light with a paperclip, placed in the right spots on your obdII connector, in reality that is all those code readers from wally mart and crappy tire do, and when someone says man you can stick paper clips in there you'll short it out, well what the hell do you think the readers do. hope this helps, and if not I bet I will recieve alot of negative feed back, or atleast a lil a both. lol!

Unplug the battery for a few minutes and then plug it back in.
The check engine light code should go away. If it does not go away then your problem is not a lose gas cap and in order to get it fixed you will first have to get the code from your car's computer. I am a GM man so I know Saturn055 |

17,000 miles, the thing should be under warranty. The dealership should do it for free.

They will never know what it is until they check it with thier scanner. It should still be free as it is under warranty. I'd call another dealer and see what they have to say.

They won't know that the gas cap is the problem until they check it out.

Well then, either leave it alone and make sure you keep the cap tight and after so many drive cycles, it will shut off the light, or you can gamble on whether that is the actual problem and take it in.

Well, there you go. More than likely the gas cap.

Usually after a preset number of key cycles the idiot light should reset if the obd does not detect the problem anymore. I would drive it a few days to see if it resets by itself.
If it doesn't I would go trade it in on a early '80s Chrysler K car, ha ha ha ha ha. |
