If you are looking to use your keyboard and screen from the laptop for both your pc and laptop then go with a KVM switch. Keyboard Video Mouse switch.

pretty cheap and will save you space. I have a four poster but a two poster is great for service calls.

a vnc program would be another way to go... RealVNC is a good program and it's free. google realvnc to learn more. But basicaly it uses your network, either local or over the internet to be able to control a host computer. Ever seens the ads for Go to My PC? Same thing only free and better. I think this is more of what your are looing for. A KVM means the computer have to be next to each other and you really can only control the laptop from the PC in that setup.
