1. Bell has started to use a 768 bit RSA encrypted SHA-1 signature for CMD 07.
2. Decryption times for devices like atmega128 and atmega162 are 5-6 seconds with highly optimized code. Insufficient to keep up with the new datastream.
3. No way in hell FTA will be able to handle the latest encryption in 2-3 seconds. You got to rememeber, the FTA CPU has to also present you with an onscreen guide, video, remote functions and on top of that do some computationally intesive math every couple of seconds. The result will be that no FTA will be able to deliver uninterrupted video.

I predicted this a few months ago and was called an idiot (which I don't dispute to be).

Hi Mili,
If that is all the provider has to offer in killing FTA, its only a temporary kill for him. Basically, the manufactures of FTA may decide to call it quits due to all the legal issues involved. CPU issues can be resolved in most cases even with the old FTA units. Just a new market could be on the horizon. You were correct in your previous post and you are correct now, FTA is done at this time.

FTA wont keep up ok.... lets I would agree that many main stream FTA runing 80 MHz cpu's might have problems but mili mny of the FTA recivers like viewsat have a 160 mhz cpu Neusat have an NEC 200Mhz cpu do think also those FTAs wont keeep with 768 RSA???!!

lets start by saying that FTA irds are going to loose one day to the provider.
moving on then .. the reason we dont have BEV right now is that the CMD07 CWs are not known. as has been posted on other sites , some map calls that are being used to encrypt the CWs havent been totally figured out yet - that just means more time. 768 bit RSA can be easily implemented on even a 80 Mhz machine ( pansat etc ) while the VS is easily ahead of the game. In fact FTA boxes probably carry a faster ALU than provider boxes! .
VS has made it clear that some sort of rom102 or rom102 EMU help might be needed either 1) having plastic in FTA slot or 2) having ROM bin dumped into FTA bin , all resulting in defeating CAM-IRD handshake protocol.
either way its all a matter of time. FTA is here to stay - follow the money mili!

The provider receivers don't use their ALU for these calculations. That's done on the CAM. A purpose made IC like the provider cams can do these calculations MUCH faster than any all purpose ALU. I'm not saying fta wont be able to do it, I'm just saying don't underestimate just how much the provider's hardware can handle.

I'm a little confused about this as well I have a viewsat 2000 platinum and mine is working great atm as well and haven't noticed any problems yet.

All though I don't know that much about BEV since I don't think I had it anyway cause I haven't entered any new keys for BEV but did for Dish and at this moment all channels still seem to be working good for me.

Where you live'n..?..The 301 with public blocker rolled through this....with a rom 10 ,,,LoL..??? had to do a key change ..and apply a non-bypass E0 autoroll bin....took 5 min's..?

Well I know you probably wasn't referring to me but just for the record I most defiantly wasn't saying you was full of shit

As I said I don't really know about BEV but I was just saying that if all FTA suppose to be dead atm than mine hasn't had any problems today, but as far as BEV I'm not sure. I assume that may have been what you meant though, that BEV suppose to be dead with FTA and that if Dish does the same thing that BEV did than Dish would be gone as well?

bev isnt using E0 emm for decrypt key right now , its the standard 42 for now and its all good. E0 emm passing is not suggested even for dish where its necessary for auto

atmega/rom10/rom11/ would never do N2 - look now.
fortec type stbs would never do N2 - look now.
rom10 would never au - look now.

nothing is as it seems - a FTA with a partial 102 EMU can and will do wonders IMO.
