DiSHNET and BEV has found a way to eliminate FTA receivers, AVR-X, ROM10, Atmega, Syndrome and C-emu setups.
ROM 102 cards were also blacked out but have been fixed for now To program a ROM102 you will need a real DishNet reciever a real open ROM102 card, an unlocker, a JTAG programmer and a LOT of reading to do. DO NOT ask me how to program your ROM102 card. A How TO is on www.bellexpress.vu/rom.html
So leave me alone, I got my plate full. If you got an FTA reciever find the free to air satellites and watch those until you get a DishNet setup.
ALL OF YOU BE PREPARED TO BE WITHOUT TV FOR DAYS MAYBE WEEKS in the future as Dish and BEV steps up their ECMs.

over at rom10x snags posted a file claiming to fix ppv and porn using a rom102. Its a bin using public information, my guess is that people using 102 cards will be back up shortly using private info. also people are reporting that romcode private blockers are working.

I have seen a 102 working bin posted for dishnet.. hmm. guess plastic is the way to go, private code wasn't even affected either.. go figure.

I would not say it is paperweight, it is perfectly capable of receiving free to air channels, exactly what it was designed to do.

fed123456 typing in red will not make your DVB card more potent. I suggest you locate them FTA satellites.

FreeTVers sure do get up set when they ain't getting free tv. Thats kinda why I miss the old H card days when the only people in it were testers.

It all comes down to common sense and denial indeed. Anyone who gives all sorta lifetime warranties and boasted promises in this hobby is plain lying. There is no such thing as free TV. You must pay for hardware and do the learning reading thing. THen you will get a lot cheaper access to all the channels but it ain't free and any current setup can go obsolete overnight. The risk and benefits of hacking are ALL the customers'. I stopped selling AVR-X cards two days before they started this ECM on DishNet. Look at the FTA dealers' sites. You think they stopped selling the FTA recievers?

The only guaranteed solutions other than paying DISH/DTV available to date are the Discounted Subscription Services.... you will not get PPV, but at least can forget about obsolete hardware, updating keys, soldering equipment, hunting fixes, losing your favorite programs, forgetting about World Cup, etc. ...

With all respect I have to disagree. FTA power is limited
to it’s design, DVB does all calculation using computer power
which in this case are almost limitless and only software related. It will decode with enough speed even 1024. Thanks to God I have bunch of 102 ROMS for
free, but it seems to be next Charlie target. Would not give more then 2
months before he will loop it forever.

These recent black screen channels were not an ECM. Charley simply fixed it so that cards with rev less than 108 get black screen.
All you need to do is unlock your cards in nagra 2, read them then apply the latest Penga patch (part1) to convert the minimum revision to 108, write the image back to the card and everything should be working again.
The reason FTA is down is that the firmware needs to be upgraded to support Rev 108. No doubt BlackList will be releasing the updates soon. As before this needs to be done for every FTA model IRD.

I agree that DVB has the ability of more computing power then FTA but you still have to break down the new 768cmd and devolop a work around for it. I am sure it will happen then again it might not. But what mili is saying is until a work around is found then FTA channels are all you are gonna get. IMHO

This is not what I have been led to believe. Bell has been at it for a couple of weeks now and I see no fix for them. Time will tell though.

how reliable is the info max is posting? It seems almost too easy. It is certainly contradictory to what everybody else has been saying took place. Can anybody else vouch for max's theory?

I would never compare DIGITAL VIDEO BOARD
to FTA RECIEVER. In many ways they are different.
Not to say it’s much easier to write plugin for DVB.
CHARLIE has a lot of chances to kill 102 ROMS.
Even if I didn’t have one I would not rush to buy it in month or two.
What was the stupid idea to spend money on AVR-X when Atmega
was working fine? CHARLIE probably already killed FTA
due to luck in speed and design, but he can not do anything with
DVB for which you need only plugin to decrypt a scream. Time will tell.

I have only been reading for a few minutes today but so far the way I see it is :
You kinda right. and kinda wrong. Depends on how you see it.
Any attempt to stop pirating is considered an ecm. Maybe not by definition by some coders but fact remains if they do something just to stop signal integrity it is a ecm
I have tv with rev 105 so it is not looking for rev 108 only, probably will but not yet.
I also know others who say same thing and not at rev 108 yet.
the reason fta's are down is they cant do the math (yet) not because of rev 108
But yet once again WTF do I know,

to the general population:
I see alot of excuses from "we are waiting to get it right " to "I am out of the country on business and will get a fix soon as I get back"(FTA)

Well, I guess you could call it an ECM, if you want. More like a system upgrade to me. Anyhow, its the same result. Charlie had this trick since N2 started, and its time for him to use it. I really don't think N2 is secure at all. Maybe this is the end, but the hole is there now, just like before, there is always a hole. This is just like the R2 and R3, we have time on our side. The key now is not to freak out !!!! A little down time is gonna happen now and then, and thats a good thing. This reminds me of when N1 crapped out. Sort of funny if you ask me.
