Hello guys i have a question the game Midnight Club 3 remix is bigger than 4.7 GB. Other games no problen with dvd decrypter read and wright. I bought dvd 8.5GB dual layer burnt fine. Put game in, screen does not go red but gets to the point that playstation 2 on screen than black even rented one thinking maybe somthing wrong with download. Any help would be great. If you chose to using a Dual Layer DVD, then you are gonna have to "Patch" your ISO image. The PS2 has problems running DVD9 games backed up onto dual layer media due to to problems reading from the second layer. This is because the data format on burnt DL discs is different than on pressed discs (burnt = OTP, pressed = PTP). Use the Toxic Dual Layer Image Patcher. It wrotes a software hack directly to the ISO image and enables the PS2 to read the DL Disks. If you are using the DMS4 chip, this software is written to the chips firmaware and there is no need to patch, but chips like the Matrix Infinity still need the patch to be written to the Disk. Also, with Matrix and others, you'll need to go to the options screen and enable Dual Layer Disk support.

Budreaux the patch worked on 50 cent bullet proof and Grand Turismo 4 thanks again. I could not get it to work on midnight club 3 dub remix. Don't need it that bad.

What kind of chip do you have installed? Also, the media has to be set to DVD-ROM booktype when burning, or no dice with the boots. (assuming it is as GT4 and 50 cent worked)
There are probably game shrinking guides around for MC3 dub remix, ps2hd is reporting the US version to be a DVD5 though - so I don't think that the patch would be of help, as it don't have a Layer 1 to deal with. (possibly the EU version?) |

Yeah, I'm also curious about your brand of chip.
If the other 2 games worked, then I'd venture to say it isn;t the DVD-Rom booktype as the issue, BUT, I'd still suggest that he go ahead and make that setting change and give it a go, but DL DVDs aren't cheap comparted to DVD5. I really think you have a bad file mate. What is the difference in dub edition d and dub remix.. to be honrest, I hadn;t even heard of the remix version. I'd like to offer a little bit of advice also, seeing how you didn't know about the Toxic patch.. do you know how to DNAS patch a game so that you can still play the copied game on-line? Again, this is why I want to know what chip you are using. Budreaux

I did a bit of research onthis game and you are indeed correct. It is a DVD9 game, but one that has given many folks alot of issues.
First off, you're gonna have to rebuild the game to downsize it. However, those that have done it are reporting that the game performance is rather choppy afterwards and teh music is washed out. If you have the original, I'd suggest just sticking with that. I actually bought Socom 3 because it isn;t playable on-line as a backup copy. Sony mamanges to get it right every now and then, and the best bet is to go with an original copy when they do. Good Luck Budreaux
