Thank you for starting a whole new section devoted to fta only. It should be a new and exciting frontier for a lot of testers.

it no worky
seriously been working on this old Primestar Dish.most pictures I have come across are for oval.mine is 36x39 I think I have the focal point calculated correctly.but not sure on the length of the arm if I am correct on the focal point.but anyhow I need to figure the measurements for the correct placement of the lnb.so how would I do that.the way its placed now looks way too low.been working on this for over a week I get G10R but thats it.so I am off somewhere |

If you got Galaxy 10R then it should be good the sat is a hard one to find. You should have about 30 or so channels on that bird. Now I will tell you this when I started it was hard to get the singnal for other birds. You got to move your dish inch by inch you can get the singnal as fast as you can losse it. Be pationt it looks like you got eavery thing in order. Try making sure that LNB type is standard local freq 10750. Bring a small tv out its allot easier.
Hope this helps I will try to fin some info and post it for you for the LNB Mesure ments |

ok well I got 30 channels but moved the dish by accident now only get 21 on G10.but my main problem now is I wanted to get the music channels off echo7 and I was told that I needed to put the other LNB on the left side of the lnb thats pointed at G10(this is if you are facing the dish from the front)but the weird thing is I get T-5 and only 2 TP's there with 60%quailty.and I am no wheres near the elevation for T-5 thats called for in my area. But wouldn't the LNB be on the right for T-5?This is getting confusing

I got that same dish, complete and could measure the focal point for ya if that helps, I'm waiting for a h120 mover for mine, The origional has arms that move out to a ring in the center. Just tell me exactly how to measure it, and I believe that I can confirm your length is ok. HITEKREDNK |

well what I was told was to measure from the center of the Dish to the center of the LNB face. But I think calculations were for Prime Focus Dishes not offsets. So I maybe off.My calculations show from center of Dish to Center of the LNB face comes out to 23.14. |

Measurements
WyldCherry,
I have a 39" X 30" Primestar dish I'm not using. It has the original LNB still mounted. The distance from the center of the dish to the center of the face of the LNB is 20.5". The distance from the TOP of the dish at centerline, to center of the LNB face is 28". The distance from the bottom of the dish, measured at the top of the little arc formed by the moulded arm mount recess, to the LNB face centerline is 18.5". Keep in mind that the face of the original LNB is wedge-shaped with the wedge in a vertical position. Hope it helps you to figure out the positioning for the LNB on your dish. searay Last edited by searay; 08-27-2006 at 05:32 PM.. |
