clear xbox . com

Has anyone tried the ps2 covers from clearxbox . com? I want to be able to play copies but I'm not all that great at soldering. I've made db9 cables and jtag cables but there's not much to mess up on those and I'm just not confident enough to try it. What are the advantages of a mod chip over the case mod and swap magic discs? Any input is greatly appreciated, thx.

Then get yourself a 200gb Maxter ide harddrive with the network adapter and I can set you up with a copy of HDLoader. What this does is allow you to copy the game to the harddrive in the PS2 and boot up using HDLoader to get a game menu and select the game you want. This only works for the Fatboys though.
If you ahve a slimline, then your options are fewer, even though there are solutions for that, but you already stated you don;t want to do the soldering.

I resently put a 160gb Maxtor in my sons fatboy, casue he kept scratching my good discs.. I have over 50 games on it and he just loves the simplicity of it all.

Fliptops mean you have to boot the PS2 with one disk, open the top and change disks.... with the modchip, the modship does all the booting, so there is no need for an extra disk to swap to boot from. Then there are other applications for the modchip, but ot for the more involved user.

[edit] Also, you could always ship your PS2 to an installer and have one installed. If oyu want to buy the chip yourself and send it out, I'd be glad to install it for you for $30. Folks round here know me and I'm sure they speak on my behalf as to being an honest person. Let me know if you;re interested. I offer a lifetime warranty on all my chip installs. I use the Matrix Infinity chips.

the slim ps2's can use a program called usb loader, i think, most modchip sites have them in stock along with hdloader, but if you know your bittorrent you can find a cracked version that way.

yeah, but to use the HD, he still needs to do some soldering to attach an ide hardrive.
Using an external HD via USB is terrible slow load times.

It's an old school fatboy ps2. I was looking somewhere and they had a link to that site and I figured for $20 I'd give it a try. I was just wondering if anyone on here had tried it or not. I really wanted to know how reliable it was on playing copies bc on the site it said I would be able to play all backups and imports, but I'm sure EVERY site says that lol. About how much does a hard drive run for a ps2? And also, I'd trust you Budreaux I've read some of your posts in this section and the sat sections and I've seen your work on the ps2, you're mod w/the paint job and the cut open top looks great.

I got my sons 160gb harddrive off of ebay for $44. Best $44 I've spent in a long while. PS2 HD compatibility charts are all over the net, just google it.... but the Maxtor IDE Harddrives seem to be the most compatible with the Seagates right behind em. WDs usually need a little modifing to get to fit right.
The trick is getting a Network adapter for it, they will run you on average of $35 on ebay, but I'll say it again, the ease of use and the convenience are wonderful.
