Just wan't to make this clear

Hi

I've was bored so i began reading about FTA to learn something new.
From what i understand then, 119, and 110 can be viewed with this system aswell as regular dvb signals, pending which bird your aimed at?

thnx

Do u need the 33 inch ku-band sat to pick up 119 & 110 or just a lineaR LNB?
Im guessing just the lnb.
Is ther a card or camless?
How is the tsop read? jtag?

thnx

Most of FTA are cardless but some (like coolsat) allow you to put a different card in, depending on what encryption you want to decode (nagra, irdeto). You need the same dish size you use with any dish IRD to pick 110-119. FTA receivers have serial port so you can flush them.

The stuff your watching now on your dave and b3v sat testing is usually circular LNBs, but some of the newer sats are using linear LNBs. As posted, look at lyngsat and look at the configuration of the transponders. If it has an "L" or "R" that would indicate a circular LNB, if it says "H" or "V," that would be a linear LNB (horizontal, vertical, left or right polorization).

A couple of the newer sats are using linear LNBs but your receiver would have to be able to "see" these, most FTA units will, but the 301 conversions may not.

I haven't heard of anyone (yet) that IS watching real FTA on these conversions.

Also, as alsouthster said, be careful, once you get into it, you'll get hooked.

One other thing, once you get into FTA, you'll find that you want more signal, larger dishes, and may that may lead to actually looking for a BUD (Big Ugly Dish). (ha ha ha)

Unfortunately the 301.013 to IRD conversion does not appear to be working. I've been trying to get real FTA using a linear LNB pointing AMC4 and Galaxy 25. It appears the conversion code uses a fixed Symbol Rate of 20000...bummer. You can follow my thread on ROM10x about "Using 301 for real FTA". I hope someone fixes this as I have several conversions done.
