suk-your-itty
During a routine syslog exam today, I noticed DoD was hitting my firewall again. Jeeze
I got curious and did some googling. Check these out.... nothing new here.. but interesting and maybe shocking to those that are unaware. hxxp//www.securityfocus.com/brief/121 hxxp//www.csmonitor.com/2006/0209/p01s02-uspo.html hxxp//epic.org/privacy/choicepoint/acxiominternet.pdf hxxp//www.eff.org/news/archives/2006_10.php#004935 hxxp//www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/07/09/intel.briefings/index.html I could go on, I think you get the picture - all these toys to play with and we - the legitimate, innocent (well) public - are the lab rats for these (and other) programs. What ya wanna do? Big Brother is watching and he likes what he sees

Are you guys familiar with the Stazi? They were basically a hard core version of the Nazi's. It's estimated that at their peak, over 1/3rd of all East Germans were working for the Stazi in one way or another. They developed the Minox camera that you see in all the spy movies and a shitload of other surveilence equipment that was decades ahead of it's time. They collected so much information on so many people it ended up being their demise. They couldn't keep track of it all. That's easier now days, but I could see where this data mining project could backfire big time. At the very least it's going to be an inefficient means of busting anyone. Now picture this scenario. What if sat hacking is defined as a terrorist activity at some point? We all know the government doesn't misuse it's powers.

I had never heard of the Stazi myself.
Now on the last question.... who is to say the bastards don't track our activities around here. Anything to do with defeating encryption is a no no as far as the Gub Mit is concerned.

The Stazi (I might not be spelling Stazi correctly) were kind of like the Nazi secret police. (kind of like the NSA
) They even would break into someones house, put a special cloth in their pillow, then go retrieve the cloth and put it in a sealed jar. That way they'd have the persons scent in case they needed to track them with dogs. They literally had warehouses with tens of thousands of jars with rags in them. These guys were totally off the charts control freaks. They kept everyone in suspicion of everyone else. There are some scary similarities between the Stazi and America since the Patriot Act. Once the people start seeing how invasive their government can be there are always problems. Governments never contain their snooping to honerable causes. As soon as someone critisizes them they use their powers to go after people like Martin Luther King jr., Abby Hoffman and other great men. This snooping effort is nothing new. The fact that newer technology makes it so much easier is pretty scary though. |

If they want you bad enough they just come and get you. Then fill in the blanks later. Guilty until proven innocent.

It's all a matter of priorities. Our government doesn't mind spending 5 years and 100 million dollars finding out who told who Valerie Plame worked for the CIA....as if anybody gives a fuck....yet doesn't spend five minutes worrying about minor stuff such as who's minding the 3000 or so multi-megaton nukes laying around the old Soviet Union, you know, insignificant shit like that.
Reminds me of our local police department, who'd much rather hide motorcycle radar units behind trees and slam people for speeding on a 6-lane freeway with a fund-raising 40mph limit, instead of busting the $500,000 methamphetamine deal or gang-related driveby shooting going on 3 blocks away. ![]() |

The reason they first investigated it is because revealing the identity of a CIA agent is a crime. People also wanted to see if she was outed as punishment for her husband calling bullshit on the (bullshit) Iraq-Niger-uranium connection.
As it turns out, it is unclear who outed her... but what is clear is that rather than help the investigation, the Bush administration did what it does best — lie like a rug. So poor ol fallguy Scooter was nailed with 5 counts of perjury. So the reason someone like me gives a fuck is cuz the whole thing is tied in with the administration's (bullshit) reasons for starting the war on Iraq. The cost of which is approaching $500 BILLION. According to a recent study that I half-read on an unreliable left-wing blog lol, that's enough to buy every person on earth 578 cans of Chinese Mekong River Beer. |

![]() Yep, outing a CIA agent is a crime. The exact details of Plame's deal will never be known, and no, I don't care - and no one prosecuting the outing cares either. Why? Because it's a total political deal, designed specifically to crush Dick Cheney with the ultimate goal of further damaging George Bush's credibility. Net result = better shot at winning the White House in 2008, the ONLY reason these endless investigations keep happening. Do you REALLY think Fitzgerald and his pals care about justification for the Iraq war and stories of yellowcake uranium? Hah... ![]() If this had happened during the Clinton years, I have no doubt the Republicans would be doing the same thing, so this is a bipartisan fucking. It's no wonder the US is in such a mess. There's no one on Capital Hill who gives even the tiniest shit about those who elected them to begin with. |

2 cents
then when another 911 happens in the U.S who will be the first ones to bitch and complaing that the U.S didnt utilize all there technological disposals that they had to stop the bastards.Call it what you want..big brother.whatever....but you have nothing to fear really if your not doing anything dishonest (or gretly dishonest)
Lets be real....If the FBI .CIA or higher up in the bush government had an interest in 'cracking ' dickie..it would have been done by now.....WHen they have better things to worry about (eg after the iraq war/government leaks..etc etc) they might come looking....If you guys were doing real hacking ala NASA of things of national security yeah your ass would be grass Stop worrying and enjoy your free tv |

NSA is analyzing 3 terabytes of data every couple of hours, with the help of ALL of the Telcos and ISPs. The fact that they are using terrorism to scare people into looking the other way is hilarious. I took forensics and criminal justice for a time, and there is one constant, "The perfect crime". One man, one mission, and no one else involved. He can't be stopped. Terrorism is an idea, a philosophy. It can't be beaten by satellites, wire taps, data mining. Thats just the excuse for them doing it.
I say fuck em. and defer to The Clash- "When they kick in your front door, how you gonna go? Guns blazin? or lying on the floor?" |
