understanding firmware virgin
I want to test a 501 ird. I found p-088 virgin firmware in the file section.
it has four files 88-01,,,,,,, 88-02 88-02,BIN BAK,,,, 88EPROM,,, I understand the first two would be virgin TSOP'S and the last the eeprom. what would be the third 88-02 , BIN BAK. from what I read this is a modified file from bin -02 why would this be in a virgin firmware file. I'm just trying to understand before I puse program buttons. |

Bak files are files save when and edit was done, the bak file would be the file before the edit. To use a bak file it should be renamed to .bin.

firmwarre
ok, my understanding is that these are virgin or virgin tsop's. and that I woud be the one to make a bin,bak file. so when I use this firmware tsop and write to the # 2 flash I would not use this file because someone has already done a edit correct? In other words the bin I make from the virgin tsop will be the write to the # 2 flash,, Bk's + hex

Yes.
Adding receiver number will marry he hard drive. If the flash is indeed virgin, use a virgin eeprom too. Simply adding receiver number and boxkeys will not work for any fix except no-rsa, ie romcode, romprotect, public numbers etc.

virgin flash
I can only hope the flash is virgin from the file section 501-p088.
why would someone ad a bak file to the files ? the bak file has different bk's then the orignal virgin flash. maybe they are including bk's for someone who might need them??? I will be using the virgin flash only + eeprom and edit my own bk's key + hex that I get from r/c to marry. hope on on the right track. thx , lunar |

Personally for a 501 I'd use a P063 to marry it, but as long as it's virgin, it should work.
R/C is no rsa, so if it marries, shut it down and it should update and work fine.
