Using my Coolsat 6000 for AMC 4

Hi, I've got a 33 inch dish that I'm going to use to point to amc4 (101 degrees West). I've got a coolsat 6000 receiver that's currently being used to catch dishnet 110 & 61.5 but I'm now going to use it for the Real FTA Channels on AMC4. I would appreciate it, if someone could answer my questions below.

1) Do I have to go into Menu and press "Database Reset" before trying to find a satellite?

2) Must I tilt the lnb like you do when pointing to dishnet 121?

3) Are these the proper settings to have the receiver configured to, before trying to find amc4:

Sat: AMC 4
lnb Power: ON
lnb Type: Single
lnb Freq: 10 750
22khz: OFF
Diseqc Switch: Off

Thank you

All the settings are right but the LNB is not you need a linier LNB for the Ku band. Other than that you should be good on every thing els.

Hi "Crow 492",

thanks for replying. The lnb that I have is for ku band. The setting for the lnb Type was incorrect. What setting should I set it to? There is no setting that says "Lnb Type: Ku". So what setting should I select for lnb Type?

Lastly, do I twist (skew) the lnb when aiming at amc 4? If so, in what direction (ie. pointing it at 5 o'clock etc)?

Thank you so much!

Its the eye your LNB setting is good 10750 but you cant use a bell or dishnet eye it wont work.

Thats what I ment that you may need a new LNB Linier but if it is then you are good to go.

The one's that are in yellow or say DVB are free to air and in your case the freq TP that have 5 digits are what you will get for channels selection. Sat 123w Galaxy 10R has the most for free to air channels with most if not all the networks like FOX, ABC, UPN, WB and others.

Thanks "Crow 494" but you still haven't answered my questions. Lyngsat doesn't say if the lnb (the eye) needs to be tilted in order to catch amc 4. For example, to catch the 121 dish sat, the lnb must be tilted to 5 o'clock. Do you know if the lnb must be tilted to catch amc4?

Also, my lnb is for ku. In my receiver, under lnb Type, what do I select (ex. standard, universal, single, etc)?

Sat: AMC 4
lnb Power: ON
lnb Type: ???
lnb Freq: 10 750
22khz: OFF
Diseqc Switch: Off

Thanks

lnb Type: Universal and yes it must be Skew ( tilted ) but not as much to get 121.

I think I have a linear lnb. If so, could I use that lnb for amc4 and just set Lnb Type: Linear?

As for tilting the lnb, approximately how much tilt would you say is needed, half the distance that is needed for 121?

Thanks

the Linier is the one you need. For the tilt on the eye all I did was I found the sat and adjusted it once I had the dish all tight up. I normaly have a TV when I set a FTA dish up because its harder to find the singnal. One inch too far and you will loose the singnal thats why I have a small TV right there with the dish.

But ya for the tilt tone your dish first then fine tone with the LNB by tilting it one way or the other.

The whole day, I tried pointing my dish at amc4 but I was unsuccessful. The signal strength always stayed at approximately 91% and the signal quality fluctuated between 1% - 6%, It only had two bars filled, no matter where I'd point my dish to. I read the sticker on my lnb and it says "Ku Standard lnb". Is this the lnb that I need for amc4?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
