Telstar 5 and FTA Channels, am I getting them all?!?!?
Hey all,
I'm trying to setup my CoolSat 4000 Pro for what it was originally designed for, Free-To-Air. I have it pointed at Telstar 5 aka Galaxy 25 aka IntelSat Americas 5 aka 97.0W. I setup the receiver with the most common settings for FTA use and did a blindscan. Now, after the scan was completed it found about 300+ FTA channels of which many were duplicates (i'm assuming they show on multiple transponders). In any event, the channels I am most concerned about are the Romanian ones. About a year ago, I was able to get about 4 Romanian channels using FTA and now I can only get one. A friend of mine is using the same receiver and pointing to the same bird and he's able to still get all four. Am I doing something wrong or is there a special setting/key that needs to be input for me to see the other channels that are now missing? For a little more clarification, I am receiving TVR International but according the LyngSat, the following other channels should also be on 97.0W as well and these are the ones I'm missing... Pro TV International / RSC-3 Unknown Name / RSC -2 Unknown Name / RSC -1 If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Cheers, SaGe69 |

you dont need to do a blind scan on telstar 5, as all the transponders are listed. LND should be at 10750 . Go to lyngsat and see what transponder your channels are on, and see if you get a signal. That bird is hard to get in, and sometimes if it ain't right, a transponder will not show signal. Let me know what name and transponder it is on, and I will motor mine there and see if I get a signal.

Billk28213 is right..That Galaxy_25 signal is a hard to get signal bitch. The secret is to get the max "QUALITY" remember that,"QUALITY" is what is important not signal %. And use the most stronger transponder, not all transponder have the same "QUALITY",so use the stronger one and get the max Quality u can get.I did it once for a friend and i think I used 11836_V or 12146_V. Try that and good luck. i also recomend you that before you do anything do the Factory Default on your Coolsat_4000...Long Live the Musqueteers.

The 3 channels you have listed are Encrypted, there is no way to get them unless you sub to GlobeCast. You friend must be using 'other' means to get these channels The only FTA Romanian channel is TVR International. |
