Hi,

I have a sub (2x 4100) and 2 other receivers I had bought with prior sub, should I ask them for my replacement card? Are they unlockable?

Just don't destroy your old cards after you activate your new ones. Then you'll have a couple cards to play with.

If you are not currently subscribed, I'm sure they won't send you replacements.

The cards they will give you are not currently unlockable (publically).

I'm sure that they will ask you for your old ones (or charge you if you don't return them).

Considering that only the HACKED IRDs see the card replacement channel (263), I wouldn't do anything at this time!

Oh man, I wish I read your post a few minutes later..I called and asked if I was going to get a new card, they asked me where did you see that you were gonna get a new card, I have legit 4100's so I said on the sware channel...(I'm getting channel SWARE 230, is that the same?)

Should I worry? (Was this like a trap?)

No, there is no card swap -- at least not a wholesale one like we experienced three years ago. This was an elaborate trap to get plastic testers to call in for a "new card," when there really isn't any (for now). Yes, I've seen the "card swap" URL. However, that URL cannot be accessed just by linking from Bell's home page. It appears that the URL is fake, as well, and part of the ruse.

I don't know what will happen to you. If I was you, I would make sure that your system is back to 100% legit and hide all of your testing equipment for the short term, because I'm sure that you will be getting a visit from Bell very soon.

No, the SWARE channel (230) is just telling you that PVRs (5100, 5800, and 5900) need new software/firmware.

The SWAP channel (263) is informing you on how to "swap" cards. However, no legitimate subs can see this channel. I have it on good authority that it's fake and a trap. Kind of like the PirateTV channels on D!$h.

Assuming that you have more than one PC, I would just hide your testing PC and use another one that is completely free of testing applications.

If you only have one PC, then you could:

1. back up all of your testing applications to CD-R and remove them from your PC.

2. buy a cheap Windoze XP laptop from Craigslist for ca. $200 and use it until this matter has been settled.

I have none. All I know is that my one extremely good source who has privately told me about A LOT of things about this hobby and has been 100% true (so far) has told me that it's a trap.

that is true i've tryed everything and connot find anything, as of yet 2 prove there is a real "card swap" so, lets just see what's really is goin on EH?!?!?!

I cannot find channel 263 on any of my subs either, if there was a card swap, then why would I not see it right? Also, spoke to a friend, was told they cannot come into my house without a mendate which takes a lot more proof then just me calling in and asking for a card swap..

One little piece of advice regarding this hobby, lattman... Do NOT make rash/hasty/impulsive decisions. Just don't. Ask lots of questions and learn from others' experiences before jumping in with both feet.

Looks can be very deceiving. Once again, you cannot navigate to this page from the hxxp://www.bell.ca home page. I've tried to do it many times. Do a search on Bell's home website for "card swap." See what kind of hits that gets you...

Doubtful. Bell's webmaster is just as good as any other company's.

Why not? All you would need to do is set one up and post it on one of the testing sites and watch the rumor spread like wild fire. It's not hard to imagine at all IMO.

Bell is incompetent at securing their signal. That is an obvious given. However, being so incompetent as to not linking this supposed very important "card swap" program to their home page doesn't seem very reasonable and doesn't pass the smell test.

Unless I'm reading these posts wrong, there is indeed a bev card swap going on. I have 4 legit never tampered with recievers that is getting the card swap channel, and I just recieved 4 new cards in the mail (I have never contacted bell about anything sat related). Also, I just had an automated call reminding me to swap the cards.

Maybe they are selectively picking individuals to test with, not sure.

They only hit once this weekend, my legit sub box had to be reset.

Further more, their has been a lot of freezing.

If you have the worst of fears, consult with your lawyer.

No papers or calls, no worries.

If you have to, pull your hard drive out of your computer, and put it in someone elses garbage can then buy a new replacement hard drive.

i have checked my 3 subbed irds and 8 of my friends irds, several different models, and not even 1 gets ch 263, but all but 1 of our "testing" irds do get this ch.263 i would not panic 2 much but, this does sound a little weird? you should ALWAYS go by the info from your subbed irds anyway before contacting any provider about service otherwise you are looking 4 help 4 service that they do not provide!!! P.S. they cannot enter your house without your permision, or a search warrant signed by a judge (not so easy 2 get)!!!
